EDU Talk: From Revenue Cutter to the Coast Guard
Join the Columbia River Maritime Museum on August 7 for an educational talk exploring the origins of the U.S. Coast Guard. Before the Coast Guard, there was the Revenue Cutter Service, a federal agency created in 1790 to assist with tax collection. From its roots in 1790, a modern U.S. Coast Guard would later be formed after many mergers and acquisitions of other federal agencies. This event is included in regular museum admission.
